Creating A Safe Work Environment

If you are working in an office or lab with dangerous conditions, it might be a good idea to ask your superiors to invest in a few more safety precautions for you and your fellow employees. There are, of course, minimum safety codes that labs and offices must follow, but usually, this isn’t enough to prevent real disaster from striking if something really did go wrong. Asking your company for a few more fire extinguisher cabinets to increase the safety around the office is a great idea if you feel uncomfortable about the safety conditions in your work environment. If you don’t feel safe you probably aren’t and if would be smart to do something about it.
A lot of the time small companies overlook safety in a lot of cases because nothing has ever happened that would denote increasing their precautions. But that doesn’t mean that it won’t happen. Disaster strikes because of lax safety precautions all the time and if you feel uncomfortable, bringing it up is definitely the solution. If you want to wear disposable lab coats at work because the things you handle shouldn’t be on your regular clothes, then ask for them. It is well within your rights as an employee to bring it up. Make sure your workplace is up to your safety standard because if it doesn’t seem safe to you, others might be feeling the same way. This will improve the environment for everyone involved.

Keeping a Wedding on Budget

Posted by admin - December 28th, 2010

It’s been said that money is the source of more marital arguments than anything other single subject. With the skyrocketing price of throwing a wedding these days, there’s a good chance that some of those arguments got started before the wedding. Most couples spend around $30,000 on their wedding. With that kind of money on the line, arguments may seem unavoidable. But there are plenty of ways to have a great wedding without spending an arm and a leg, just pay attention to the details. It’s the small things that really add up when it comes to weddings.

For example, wedding candles are beautiful on the altar, but how many do you really need? At $20 to $50 a candle, cutting your candle purchase in half can be a big money saver. The wedding party favor is another place to cut back on expenses. You don’t have to set out Godvia chocolates for your guests. No one will complain if they receive a cute box full of your favorite candies, even if they’re Gummi bears. At the end of the day, a wedding is about the couple and not the party. So don’t worry about impressing guests, and get your marriage off to a good, affordable start.
